France

The French tend to think their culture is superior to any other in the world. While this is still very much open for debate, there is some truth in the statement when applied to the culinary arts. French food is just great.

It is impossible to give a complete overview of French cuisine. Here we give you a short summary of different regions and their specific specialities. More info about the specific regions is found on the pages dedicated to those regions.

Tarte Tatin
It all started with a small error: Mrs. Tatin put the apples in before the dough - the result was fabulous. The Tarte Tatin is a speciality of the Sologne, just south of the Loire Valley.

Quiche Lorraine
A speciality of the Lorraine, no surprise there. It's a hearty cake that usually contains small pieces of bacon and tastes great.

Salade Nicoise
A speciality from Nice - a tuna fish salad with vinaigrette and mais.

Mustard
The best mustard in the world come from Dijon the capital of Burgundy.

Chouchroute
Choucroute / Sauerkraut is the speciality of the Alsace.
